morningI am the queen of multi-tasking. Being a stay-at-home mom of two children, it is sometimes a challenge to find time to even do something as mundane as taking a shower. I do whatever I can to save a few minutes every day.

First of all, the greatest time saver for me is to get up before everybody else. I can usually load the dishwasher, get coffee brewing, and pack my husband’s lunch in about five minutes’ time—something which would take fifteen to twenty minutes during the day when the kids are up and about. soap-dispenserOne of my favorite time saving tips is very simple and easy to do. Just use liquid soap instead of bar soap at the kitchen sink, in the shower and at the bathroom sink. This saves me a lot of time scrubbing that nasty soap scum.

I used to spend way too much time scrubbing the porcelain and polishing the faucets because there was always a little bit of water that the bars sat in by the sink and they would melt all over the place. And then the kids would drop the slimy bars and get it on the floor as well.

Now instead of really scrubbing the sinks and shower, Read the rest of this entry »

shower_nightOne of my most cherished time saving habits (I have a few) is to take a shower in the evening so that I do not have to worry about getting a shower in the morning. This saves me the five to ten minutes that are required to get a good shower (in my opinion). All there is to do in the morning is to wake up, do the normal daily hygiene acts–such as brushing teeth, deodorant, flossing, etc.–get dressed, and I am on my way.

For a while I did not think I was a morning person and needed the shower to wake up but once I started doing it, it became pretty normal. I have make sure I lay out the clothes that I plan to wear the next day just to save myself some more time, as I just have to roll out of bed, throw my clothes on and do the hygiene thing as soon as I wake up.

This is my favorite time saving habit that I have for when I wake up in the morning. It has saved me at least ten to fifteen minutes of sleep every morning and is something that I am glad I picked up.

showerOne time-saver in the morning is the way you brush your teeth. Now a lot of people follow the same format: Wake up, eat breakfast, shower, shave, brush teeth and go. I find it a lot easier to combine as many of these as I can.

The best way is to actually brush your teeth while you shower. It may be a strange concept to some, but if upon entering the shower you wash the hair, give the body a good scrub, then shave, why not go the extra distance and brush your teeth? The water is there already and you won’t even have to bend over or fill up a cup to rinse!
