yogaIf you would love to workout out everyday but don’t have the time or energy then why not try a more moderate exercise like yoga?

Yoga is the perfect physical activity for anyone who just doesn’t have the time. Yoga can be done from your home, you can design your own routine to meet your time requirements and it costs a lot less than gym membership or at home gym equipment.

Now if you’re a beginner I don’t recommend practicing for the first few times on your own. You should take a few classes so that an expert can adjust your poses and you learn the pace and whether you are doing the poses correctly. But there are plenty of beginner podcasts and DVDs out there that can also gently familiarize you with the different poses.

bike-to-work1It’s so easy to put off daily exercise. Even though my place of employment offers a full gym, with weight room, group exercise classes, treadmills and stationary bicycles and showers, I can always find an excuse to put off my workouts. Even though my employer actively encourages its employees to go exercise, I can find a hundred and one reasons to do something else.

This summer, when gasoline hit $4.00 a gallon, I decided to buy a quality bicycle and ride to work everyday. Since my employer does actively promote employee fitness, they provide bike racks for locking up bikes during the day. My office is downtown, so to park a car costs money. Riding my bike, I get “rock star” parking. That is, parking right outside the door, and not blocks away at an expensive garage.

walking-sneakersYou’re chasing a paycheck and stuck in traffic when not there. Where, then, is there time for you to work out? When you are chasing the paycheck, of course.

Coffee breaks are typically spent with coffee and a snack. Skip the snack and do your laps inside instead. You burn calories instead of consuming them. Double bonus for anyone trying to lose weight.

Lunch breaks should include lunch. Putting a 15 minute walk-a-thon ahead of food, however, will help you burn calories. And having burned time prior to consuming food reduces the odds that you will decide you need a snack in the closing minutes before returning to the cube farm.
