fast-foodDo you need to try to set the new Guiness World Record for most McDonald’s Apple Pies in 1 minute? Not really, you can still enjoy your food normally and still get a bit of your time back.

Most individuals receive a 30 minute or 1 hour lunch during the course of a workday. This can easily be eaten up in the commute to a restaurant or while waiting for food to arrive.

Select locations that are close to where you work or with relatively fast preparation times (like fast food restaurants).

Another way to save time and possibly some money is to pack a lunch from home. Not exactly glamorous to brownbag it, but when you have an extra 15-45 minutes for your lunch break, you can find other activities to enjoy besides eating

watching-clock-tallEach of us has three basic resources: time, energy, and money.

One thing that helps me save time is to become more conscious of time. There are a number of ways to do this:

1) Work on budgeting your time, just as you would budget your money. Try tracking your time for a while. If you are easily distracted, then, start writing down the time whenever you go into “distraction mode.” (This can be web-surfing, calling friends, watching TV, whatever your escape is.) Then write down the time when you stop.

You can use a timer for this, too, but the extra step of writing down your starting and stopping times is important.

Then see if you can find ways to cut down the amount of time you spend being distracted. Read the rest of this entry »

computer-notesWhen you are a college student, time-saving and time management are the name of the game. You’ve got to worry about doing all of your reading, studying constantly to keep up with the material, getting to class, eating, hitting the gym, and a thousand other strains on our time.

My tip will help you get the most out of your reading, and will save you precious time when your tests and exams come around. It will work with nearly any class, but the technique is best for the ones which you could study for with flashcards. Read the rest of this entry »

procedureThe best time saving advice I can think of is to create small systems for all of the mundane things you have to do.

These systems should suit your personality. For example, if you are a person who is easily distracted by clutter (who isn’t) and the most important thing for you to do to stay away from stress is to clear the clutter, then make a list of clutter rules for yourself. They can be prioritized so you can make a snap decision on the go!

A First Priority might be dirty dish clutter, because of the leftover food, whereas laundry in someone’s bedroom might be a Third Priority. If you only have ten minutes you have the decision made for you; all of the First Priority stuff goes ahead of anything else.

This kind of thinking will help you use your time wisely and lower your stress level by taking the decision making part and making it simple. Don’t worry, it will all get done when the time is right. The point is to be able to walk by, make a split decision and do the work so that you can move on to some that you really like to do.

drivingIt is possible to save yourself a great deal of time when you are driving if you just take a bit of time earlier to do the right planning and analyzing.

First of all, you can use online mapping programs or regular print maps to determine the shortest routes to the places that you wish to drive to. This will remove a lot of guesswork from the process. Also, it might not hurt to do a dry run ahead of time if you can possibly manage it. Read the rest of this entry »

healthy-snackI am a very busy person during week days and find it very difficult to sit to eat either breakfast or lunch. But I’m also a person with a healthy appetite, so if I go without eating I end up with a headache or feel very grouchy.

To solve this problem I’ve started to buy certain food staples in bulk and to parcel out small amounts of food for my breakfasts and lunches. I bring these with me in my briefcase and munch all day long (as long as I’m not in a meeting).

planningTime saving is something that every one is interested in, and believe it or not with simple planning ahead you can save more time than you imagined. I know that not everyone is into planning or making lists, however if you do both of these not only will you save time you will also save money.

I plan all of my meals for the week ahead of time, make a list for the grocery store in the order of the store layout and sort my coupons the same way. This helps me to spend less time in the grocery store and results in me not purchasing things I do not need. Planning my meals also saves time every night when I am preparing them, I do not have to think about what I am going to cook, as it has already been planned out, all I need to do is to get the items together that I need in order to make the meal. no-more-textingTell friends and family to leave voicemails on your phone instead of text messages for brief comments. Text messages can cost up to 15 cents each, and voicemails are often free minutes on your cell phone plan. This also saves you time and hassle, because you will receive fewer “filler” and “junk” messages that only end up deleted.

Ending texting conversations can also save time and money because we often do not realize how much time it consumes until after we’ve stopped doing it. Read the rest of this entry »

housecleaningEffective time management can help busy moms to keep time under control.

First of all, moms should keep a list handy and should jot down important things as they come to mind. This will save you time, frustration and needless trips for forgotten items. Secondly, you should plan meals for the upcoming week beforehand. You should shop in bulk and keep a good stock of grocery items in order to save time and money. You should prepare enough food for several meals and store them in freezer bags. Next time, whenever you feel pressed for time, you will need to simply heat the food and serve it.

Doing a little bit of cleaning each day will save you much time. It will help you to keep your house clean and uncluttered every morning. You should not let the housework pile up otherwise you will have to spend an entire week-end catching up on it and it will also lead to stress and strain. Children should be given various chores depending on their age and abilities. This way, besides getting help, moms can teach children to be responsible.

These tips will definitely help moms to enjoy more family time.

morning-routineIf you and your sweetie have to both be up and out early in the morning every day, don’t crowd each other.

Take turns in the bathroom. While you’re in the shower he can be preparing breakfast and coffee for the two of you, and while he’s touching up his shave you can be preparing your lunches.

You can both come out ahead if you double up on the things you do to help each other out working as a team. If you have school age children, take a few minutes to pack lunches and gather books the night before.

Remember to take turns so that you both save time rather than one of you saving time and the other always ending up rushed and late!
